There’s no feeling quite like the one you experience when you hear a track for the first time at a music festival being played by an artist that you knew you had to see no matter where the festival might have intended on taking you. And when you hear that track again when its finally released weeks or months later on SoundCloud, it evokes emotions that are significant and pure, those same emotions that you may have felt when you first heard the track in person. For me the feeling that I get when this happens is an internal tingling sensation, followed by immediate flashbacks of myself with friends losing ourselves to the moment, succumbing to the sounds. It’s that same raw emotion that may even cause one to slightly tear up when the track finally drops, because the feeling is just that strong.
That’s exactly what happened to me when I heard Lane 8’s newest track, ‘Fingerprint.’ When he played it at the Palms stage this past Crssd festival, I knew what was happening was special, I just didn’t know how special it was. It’s almost like it never even happened. We can be so caught up with capturing moments like these with our cell phones that we can easily forget to truly enjoy that moment with the people around us.
‘Fingerprint’ is the first track of Lane 8’s new movement entitled “This Never Happened” which will be his new record label. Considering how monumental this track is, and how it truly inspires one to lose themselves to the moment, I really cannot wait to hear what else he has in store for us. All I can say is when I hear this track again in person at Lightning in a Bottle surrounded by friends and love, there’s no doubt in my mind that it will be one of the most memorable moments of the weekend.
