Prototype 002 lands at Lot 613 on Friday January 23rd with the West Coast debut of Matthew Dear’s ‘Subversions’ party.

Matthew Dear is an artist that straddles multiple music worlds as a DJ, dance-music producer, experimental pop artist and band leader. Born in Texas and raised in the heady Ann Arbor/Detroit scene, Dear would go on to found Ghostly International and launch a grip of aliases including Audion and False. He currently lives in NYC with his family, using the metropolis as a home base for recording between a hectic touring schedule. Dear’s been using budding Brooklyn institution Verboten for his ‘Subversions’ residency. For Prototype 002, he’ll bring the party to the West Coast for the first time ever.
‘Subversions’ is built on the idea of full A/V immersion, balancing unique decor with an emphasis on live sets. Past guests of the night include Roman Flugel, Paco Osuna, Daniel Avery, Tiga and Trus’me. On January 23rd, Matthew Dear will be joined by Bulgaria’s KiNK. Famed for his relentlessly creative, energetic performances, KiNK (AKA Strahil Velchev) puts on one of the best live shows in dance music. He was voted #3 live act for the past two years in Resident Advisor’s annual polling, and regularly performs at fabric, Berghain/Panorama Bar, Watergate, Space and DC10. All the while, he’s released singular house and techno records on Rush Hour, Ovum, Turbo and Dirty Bird.
Joining Matthew and KiNK are LA favorites Maheras and Bas of Plastic Love.
